Delivering Structural Modifications and Operational Improvements Within a Live Production Environment for JC Atkinson

Owben partnered with JC Atkinson to support a time-sensitive factory refurbishment project, delivering structural modifications and production line improvements within a tight operational timeframe.

The priority was clear: complete the works efficiently, meet the deadline, and ensure production could continue without disruption.

The Challenge

JC Atkinson required reliable, responsive support from a trusted local contractor to deliver elements of their refurbishment vision within a live factory environment.

The project included structural changes and operational adjustments that needed to be completed quickly without interrupting ongoing production.

As JC Atkinson explained:

“The project had a tight timeframe, and we needed a team we could rely on to deliver with minimal disruption to our ongoing operations.”

The Solution

Owben delivered a coordinated package of works, including:

  • Installation of a new internal wall

  • Removal of an existing material lift

  • Extension of the production line

All works were carefully planned and executed to ensure production could continue safely and efficiently throughout the project.

Despite challenging timescales, the team maintained strong communication, clear organisation and a structured delivery approach.

“Working with Andrew and the wider Owben team was a very positive experience. Everyone on site was approachable, professional and supportive. Communication was clear throughout and there were no disruptions to our team.”

The Impact

The completed works delivered measurable operational improvements across the facility.

The new wall improved visual management and segregation between production areas, supporting clearer workflows and improved efficiency.

Removing the lift created additional usable floor space and significantly improved safety by eliminating equipment that was no longer operating as intended.

Supporting Long-Term Business Goals

Beyond the immediate operational benefits, the project supported wider business objectives including site organisation, safety improvements and audit readiness.

“The improvements supported wider business goals by enhancing operational efficiency, safety and site organisation, all of which contribute positively to compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.”

Ongoing Partnership

JC Atkinson chose Owben for our reliability, professionalism and organised approach and the relationship continues.

Further projects are already planned, including:

  • Removal of an upstairs wall

  • Removal of spray booths, tunnels and air handling units

  • Redirection of heat elements

  • Office fabrications and partitioning

“The work was completed swiftly and within deadline. We would highly recommend Owben for engineering and mechanical work.”
