Enabling Efficient Movement and Safer Operations Through Structured Engineering Delivery
Owben supported Dalmec with the installation of a material handling system, delivering the structural works, site preparation and coordinated installation required to ensure safe and efficient integration within an operational facility.
The project required detailed site review, structural design input and careful planning to ensure the new system could be installed without disruption and in full alignment with operational requirements.

The Challenge
Dalmec received a specification for a material handling system installation and required a trusted engineering partner to review the site conditions and deliver the associated structural and clearance works.
The system needed to integrate seamlessly within the existing production environment. This meant reviewing physical constraints, ensuring structural suitability and managing any modifications required to support the installation.
Our Approach
Owben worked closely with Dalmec to review the site in detail.
Together, we assessed:
The operational process and system requirements
Site layout and space constraints
Existing pipework, electrics and redundant steelwork
Clearance works required prior to installation
Following the site review, Owben provided a full costed scope of works, including:
Clearance and enabling works
Structural design drawings
Load calculations
Manufacture of structural steelwork
Powder coating
Full installation on site
Every stage was carefully planned to ensure structural integrity, compliance and operational continuity.

The Solution
Owben manufactured and installed the bespoke steelwork required to support the material handling system, ensuring it was tailored precisely to the process, space and load demands of the site.
The project combined:
Structural engineering expertise
Fabrication capability
Coordinated site management
Safe and efficient installation
By managing both the structural works and installation, Owben reduced coordination risk and ensured the system was delivered in line with Dalmec’s specification.
At Dalmec, we’ve had the pleasure of working with Owben across a variety of sectors for a number of years. Their professionalism, quality of workmanship, clear communication and commitment to delivering a project on time has always exceeded our expectations. Our partnership with the Owben team, specifically in the demanding world of motor vehicle assembly, is highly valued and remains a huge contributing factor to our continued success in this particular industry. We look forward to growing our successful relationship for many more years and would strongly recommend Owben for all structural steelwork, mechanical and electrical contract work. The Impact
The completed installation supports:
Improved material flow
Reduced manual handling risk
Enhanced operational efficiency
Safer working conditions
The system was not forced into a one-size-fits-all solution, it was engineered specifically around the site’s operational needs.
Working in Partnership
By collaborating closely with Dalmac from site review through to installation, Owben ensured a smooth, controlled delivery process.
This partnership approach allowed the project to move from specification to safe operation efficiently, with structural assurance and practical site understanding built into every stage.
